Hot air balloon flights over the Avon Valley offer a truly magical experience and are the only commercial balloon flights in Western Australia. At sunrise, golden light spills over rolling hills, the winding Avon River, and springtime canola fields. Flights depart from Northam, just over an hour from Perth, with return transfers available from Crown, Burswood, for city-based visitors.
Flying season runs from April to early November, when cooler mornings provide calm skies. Summer’s heat and winds make ballooning unsafe, so the cooler months are ideal for serenity and stunning views.
The Avon Valley is rich in history. Towns like Toodyay and York, among WA’s first inland settlements, feature heritage buildings, charming cafés, and country character. Seen from above, these towns reveal a story only a balloon can tell.
For Sunrise Flights, passengers meet at Dome Café, Farmers Home Hotel, Northam, 1.5 hours before sunrise. The team transfers you to the launch site, and after landing, the crew returns you to Northam. A gourmet breakfast at Dome Café is included. Total experience: approx. 4–4.5 hours.

Your experience begins with a transfer from Burswood or Northam meeting, followed by travel with the crew to the launch site.
