Established in 1959, the Wangaratta Historical Society and Museum is based in the historical Old Fire Station in Wangaratta.
The Society is the custodian of a significant collection of artefacts including the nationally significant Marion Gibson Quilt, photographs, glass plate slides, letters, and cemetery records of Wangaratta and its surroundings. Members of the Society volunteer their time to ensure the collections are accessible to those who wish to research Wangaratta’s local history. Volunteers also welcome visitors to the Museum who can visit free of charge every weekend.
