*The Horizontal Falls is a natural tidal phenomenon. They cannot guarantee the level of water flowing through the falls at any given time. We will however vary our schedule and flight path to suit optimum tidal movement as best they can.

Itinerary highlights

Dampier Penisula

The Horizontal Waterfalls soon come into sight as the aircraft is positioned, to get the perfect view from the window. This magnificent example of Mother Nature’s power is closely aligned between the gorges of the McLarty Range, located in Talbot Bay. The Horizontal Falls are a fast-moving tidal flow through two narrow ridges, the direction of the flow reverses with each change of tide. As tides in the Kimberley can reach ten metres, a peak tide gives rise to a significant difference in the sea level on either side of each gorge, which creates the rushing water of the Horizontal Falls.

Cygnet Bay

At Cygnet Bay, you will have a chance to take in the sights. Following a delicious gourmet breakfast or lunch, you are then escorted on a tour to take you behind the scenes of one of Australia’s most secretive industries and learning of the process of cultivating beautiful pearls. At the conclusion of your Pearl Farm tour, you have the chance to browse Cygnet Bay’s stunning loose pearls and exquisite pearl jewellery. You might like to take the opportunity to purchase your own. You will then head back to the skies for a quick forty-five minute flight down the coast past Lombadina, James Price Point, Sandy Bay, Beagle Bay, and Willie Creek to arrive back in Broome.

Operation information

Broome Aviation

Broome Aviation is the most experienced aviation company operating throughout the Kimberley region.

The pilots are trained to the highest standards, both in safety and local knowledge and we would love the opportunity to introduce you to the spectacular Kimberley region.

From the spectacular and ancient Bungle Bungles to the wonders of the horizontal falls and the Buccaneer Archipelago, the choice of tours is endless. Be entertained by stories of William Dampier and the early explorers, or dive into the history of Broome’s early pearling days through to Japanese Air raids and millions of dollars in missing diamonds.

Some of our tours will land on the red dirt of the outback, where you can explore further by four-wheel drive or listen to the Dreamtime stories told by Indigenous guides over a cup of tea.

Whatever you are looking for, Broome Aviation will be happy to provide a day you will never forget and memories that last a lifetime.

If one of the regular tours doesn’t do everything you want to do, they are more than happy to quote on customised tours. (Minimum numbers apply).
