Discover the quirky, creative, and colourful stories of Port Pirie through the ever-growing Mural Trail — one of the region’s most inspiring attractions brought to life by Port Pirie Regional Council.
Launched in 2017, the trail features a vibrant collection of large-scale murals and artistic installations throughout the city’s Central Business District. Each work captures a slice of local life, history, and imagination, making it a must-see for visitors of all ages.
Begin your journey at the Port Pirie Visitor Information Centre on Mary Elie Street, where you can collect a trail map and learn about the origins of this dynamic project.
The map highlights each mural and installation along the two-kilometre trail and offers options to explore it in manageable sections — perfect for those with mobility needs — or as one continuous walk of artistic discovery.
A highlight of the trail is a powerful mural completed in August 2023 at the Port Pirie Aerodrome. Painted on the side of the last remaining WWII Belmont Hangar, this striking work pays tribute to the region’s military history and the vital role the base played during World War II.
Along the way, Visitor Information Centre staff can recommend great local coffee spots, specialty shops, parks, and places to unwind — helping you make the most of this unique Port Pirie experience.
