Beetaloo Reservoir is located just to the east of Port Pirie in the southern Flinders Ranges and is part of the broad range of nature-based visitor destinations in the region.

The reservoir precinct is now managed by the Department for Environment and Water and is open to the public for a range of recreational activities, including wildlife and birdwatching, picnicking and barbeques using the onsite facilities.

Fishing, with an approved permit, is also possible with the reservoir stocked with Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Murray Cod. Fishing limits are detailed on PIRSA’s website.

Dogs are not permitted in the reservoir precinct. Assistance animals are accepted.

Beetaloo reservoir is open to the public 24 hours a day from 1 May to 1 November. The reservoir is closed outside this period, and on Total Fire Ban Days and for operational activity (gates will be closed).
