Dungog by Design presents a collection of works by artist Georgina Clark this month of May.

Georgina moved from Sydney to Dungog 37 years ago to live a more sustainable life, in a community of a more human scale than the fast-paced city. A largely self-taught artist, she currently focuses on creating topical but ephemeral work using collage techniques on paper.

Working with freely-available, main-stream media images her work examines many issues; environmental concerns are her main focus, especially habitat loss, climate change and the blight of our post-pandemic world: over–tourism.

The work titled “Mine Site Rehabilitation Muswellbrook” examines the devastation left by coal mining, which inspired the creation of a word – Solastalgia – to describe the distress experienced by local residents, who see their once-loved natural environment destroyed. But many works are just for fun, such as the work titled “21st Century Object of Veneration”, which is self-evident.

Georgina hopes that the work will encourage people to think about the issues, and impacts on the world, and times.
