Ripe Sassafras is a well-known cafe restaurant in the heart of the Dandenong Ranges, owned and run by long-time hills locals. Set within one of Sassafras Village’s original 1900s homes, the venue blends rustic character with a fully enclosed alfresco dining space overlooking the trees. It serves as the perfect spot for slow mornings, long lunches and relaxed afternoons. Four-legged friends are very much welcomed too on the front deck.
Start your day with their locally loved Melba specialty dark-roast espresso, rich Lindt hot chocolate, or a pot of tea from Sassafras favourite, Tea Leaves. Pair it with a standout breakfast menu featuring house-made dishes prepared from fresh, local and ethically sourced produce. From hearty classics to vibrant plant-based plates and gluten-free favourites, breakfast at Ripe is designed to fuel a day of exploring the Ranges. The menu also offers comforting lunch favourites made from scratch, along with a tempting selection of house-baked cakes, pastries, scones and biscuits for afternoon tea.
