Winemaker Belinda van Eyssen and viticulturist Daniel McDonald launched The Cutting in 2018, a sustainability-driven family venture in the prestigious Stone Well sub-region of the Barossa Valley, specialising in small-scale, single-vineyard wines.
Belinda honed her winemaking craft across South Africa’s Winelands, France, Portugal, New Zealand and the US, while Daniel trained in the Barossa Valley’s renowned vineyards, with experience in Germany and the US. The pair met among the vines of Sonoma County, California, before returning to establish their cellar in one of Australia’s most celebrated wine regions.

The Cutting vineyard is farmed sustainably with minimal intervention to promote soil health and vine balance. A significant portion of the property has been dedicated to restoring native vegetation, enhancing biodiversity and providing habitat for local wildlife.
