Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers in the beautiful Northern Rivers Hinterland town of Tyalgum, NSW.

From a humble beginning of housing aged horses, the project grew over the years as more animals were gifted from all over the region, as people came to know of the sanctuary as a place of refuge and care for retired, unwell or unwanted animals.

Eventually, people all over Australia started to give their animals to them. Caring for and house more than 100 rescued animals consisting of Horses – full size and miniature; a family of Alpacas from Nimbin with a passport from Afghanistan; wild Goats from the desert of Western Australia; Sheep; Emus from Victoria; Italian Sheepdogs; rescue Cats; a 400kg Pig with tusks (called Pumba); Doves; Chickens; Ducks and Guinea Pigs.

The Sanctuary opens twice a year, in Spring and Autumn to receive tourists through an organized garden tour. Start in Flutterbies Cottage cafe with a Devonshire tea, walk through the beautiful gardens of the Garden of Light and finish the tour meeting furry friends.
