Itinerary highlights

Kakadu National Park

Cruise on Corroboree Billabong – a great opportunity to see the crocodiles in their natural habitat and observe the local bird life. Enjoy a short walk to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) and enjoy a swim under the waterfall. We will visit Yellow Waters; one of Kakadu’s best-known billabongs and home to a variety of wildlife.
Our next stop will be the Warradjan Aboriginal Culture Centre. Later in the day we’ll lock the hubs into 4-wheel drive and take the dirt track into Jim Jim Falls, where we can cool off under Kakadu’s highest waterfall before making our way to camp for the night. You’ll meet Aboriginal artists at Injalak Arts & Crafts Centre in Oenpelli where you’ll experience men painting and pandanus women weaving baskets. Once back in Kakadu you’ll connect with a Guluyambi Cultural Cruise. An Aboriginal guide provides guests with an insight into their culture and local mythology, the river’s abundant food chain, traditional uses for many plants and animals as well as bush survival skills.

Cobourg Peninsula

We journey north into Garig Gunak Barlu Park where we’ll conquer the dirt road to the remote and picturesque Cobourg Peninsula. You’ll spot local wildlife including the world’s only remaining wild herds of Banteng buffalo. We’ll cruise to the historic Victoria settlement at Port Essington as well as spend time spotting the sealife in the pristine waters of the marine park. Admire the colourful rocky cliffs, sandy white beaches and sparkling waters which attract fisherman from all over the world. We’ll even have an opportunity to make a catch for dinner! We’ll visit Smith Point Beacon, a stone structure which sits on the northern most point of mainland Northern Territory. We’ll take a look inside the information centre and learn more about the early Macassan trepangers. From the information centre we’ll take a trip to see the wetlands; the area was the first in Australia to be recognised as a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention. We’ll also take a walk around Caiman Creek spotting animals and birdlife, and collect local shellfish and mussels before returning to camp.
