The Stansbury Museum, situated in the original school and headmaster’s residence, offers a series of comprehensive displays showcasing the history and industry of the town and local area.

Collections on display include dolls, shells, clocks, gems/minerals, bottles, cameras, office equipment, the RSL and sport. Several areas showcase the homes of earlier times-the bedroom, the sitting room, the dining room and the kitchen. The clothing room highlights the fashions of the past as well as sewing, knitting and lacemaking.

Those wishing to explore the history of the region more thoroughly may also wish to visit the reading/research room which holds a collection of cemetery records and other reference material. They have gathered several family trees, and welcome more as they assist you with research.

Outside, visitors can admire the museum’s collection of farming utensils, motoring paraphernalia/engines, a scale model of Riddle Windmill and much more.

The museum is open every Wednesday and Sunday 2-4 pm . Tours and catering are available by prior arrangement.

The most frequent comment is – “It’s so much bigger than it looks from the outside”.
