A Journey Through Time Walking Tour is a 3.8km tour through the modern streets of Sydney from Elizabeth Bay House to Government House via Potts Point and Woolloomooloo.

During this tour you’ll learn how Sydney has become what it is today by taking a closer look at its stunning architecture while learning about the historical influences that have helped make this city what it is today.

You’ll learn about architectural styles from Colonial to Victorian, Federation to Art Deco, Modernist to Contemporary.

We’ll walk through what were the first farming locations in the city that later became the first suburbs including Potts Point and Wooloomooloo. Each of which have fascinating histories.

Highlights include Elizabeth Bay House, Potts Point, Woolloomooloo, Finger Wharf, the Art Gallery of NSW, the Botanical Gardens and Government House.

Your guide will inform you about significances specific to the locations along the way.

Itinerary highlights

Elizabeth Bay House

We’ll begin our journey at this elegant Colonial residence. We’ll admire the Georgian-influenced architecture with its symmetrical facade, intricate detailing, and stunning harbour views.  

The house is open for viewing so there’s time to explore the stunning interior of this important historical house before we continue on our walking tour.

Potts Point

As we walk through and pass by some of the opulent buildings of Potts Point, your guide will inform you about Colonial, Victorian, Federation, Art Deco and Modernist architecture specific to each building. You’ll learn about the areas history and discover how each period made Potts Point what it is today.

Woolloomooloo

As we walk through this suburb your guide will inform you of the its’ fascinating history from Aboriginal and colonial beginnings to its maritime and modern periods.

Art Gallery Of New South Wales

We’ll see and learn about the architectural history of the gallery and we’ll take a sneak peek inside the original building of the art gallery to admire its classical influences.

The Royal Botannical Gardens

We’ll walk through some of the prettiest areas of the Royal Botanical Gardens while learning about the garden’s history.

Government House

Our tour will end at the spectacular Government House, We’ll observe the impressive architecture and gardens before your guide hands you over to a Government House Interior Guide (Optional interior tour – free of charge)
