Step into the heart of the Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod and experience the ACU Debating Challenge Cup. As part of Australia’s longest running and premier performing arts eisteddfod, this event showcases outstanding talent in a welcoming regional setting.
From the formal society debaters of the past to the confident young public speakers of today, the ACU Debating Challenge empowers young people to flourish and find their voice.
First established in partnership with Australian Catholic University in 2015, the Challenge Cup continues in 2025 at ACU’s Connor’s Hall, bringing together around 80 teams and 300 competitors from public, private and independent schools across the region.
Spectators are warmly encouraged to attend, watch the debates, and enjoy the energy and excitement of this inspiring competition. The heats are scheduled for 3 to 7 August, with the semi final on 18 August and the exciting finals on 25 August.
