Adventure Kayaking SA is ensuring adventure is alive in Adelaide, South Australia. Kayaking and Stand up Paddle boarding at the Adelaide dolphin sanctuary are fun, safe and with them suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Just north of Port Adelaide the “sanctuary” is the best location for paddling in South Australia. Just 40 minutes from the CBD.
Exploring the sea caves and viewing the friendly seals at Rapid Bay by sea kayak is a day of high adventure.
They provide fun social and team building sessions for business and social groups and and great educational programs for school groups.

Rapid Bay Sea Kayaking Tour
Rapid Bay is 90 Km south of Adelaide. The rugged coastline is spectacular with towering cliffs and crystal clear water, a great place for a sea kayaking adventure. After instruction on safety, paddling and fitting of the gear we are off to visit isolated beaches, mysterious sea caves and view seals and the occasional sea eagle!
Sea kayaking is great for your health and the most environmentally friendly way to explore this environment. Tour fee includes all kayaking equipment, guidance, lunch and non-alcoholic drinks.
We use quality 1 and 2 person sea kayaks which are comfortable and easy to use.
Lunch is a healthy build your own sandwich from a selection of ham, chicken, cheese and fresh salads. Special dietary requirements can be catered for.
This tour is suitable for those who love the sea, are active and have an adventurous spirit. Previous kayaking experience is recommended but not essential. This tour is suitable for adults 16 years and over.
Dolphin Sanctuary & Ships Graveyard Kayak Tour
The Kayak Tour is up to three hours of fun exploring the Dolphin Sanctuary and Ships Graveyard Maritime Heritage Trail. The sheltered mangrove lined creeks are home to a fascinating array of marine life, birds and the Port River Dolphins. The Ship’s Graveyard is a unique feature of the area with spectacular relics from the past which have been abandoned in the river. Kayaking is the most environmentally sensitive way to explore and interact with the dolphins. When the Port River Dolphins come to play it is a memory you will treasure forever.
REQUIREMENTS
Children must be a minimum of 8 years old
All Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult
Children 12 and under will need to be accompanied in a kayak by an adult
Maximum weight (2-person kayak): As we use sit in kayaks we generally find people 140+kgs can have trouble fitting into the kayaks.
Dolphin Sanctuary Mangroves Tour
The Family Tour is 90 minutes of fun exploring the Dolphin Sanctuary one of Adelaide’s “secret spots”. The sheltered mangrove lined creeks are home to a fascinating array of marine life, birds and the Port River Dolphins.
Kayaking is the most environmentally sensitive way to explore and interact with the dolphins. The tour is very easy paced with plenty of time for photos, storytelling by your guide, and searches for the Port River Dolphins. When the Port River Dolphins come to play it is a memory you will treasure for ever!

Hire a 1-person kayak to explore the Dolphin Sanctuary for up to 2 hours. Go on a self-guided exploration of the Dolphin Sanctuary using one of the handy A4 maps we provide of the area! The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is the best location for paddling in Adelaide. You can explore the beautiful mangrove creeks and search for dolphins with your family or friends.
We have the craft ready for you at the launch site, help you set up and supply a map and advice on best spots and safe paddling. You create your own unique adventure!
REQUIREMENTS
Children must be a minimum of 8 years old.
Due to legal reasons we cannot hire to persons under the age of 18 years unless accompanied by an adult.
Our 1-person kayaks are suitable for people up to approximately 1.85m (6′) in height and 100kg.
2 Person Kayak Hire
Hire a 2-person kayak to explore the Dolphin Sanctuary for up to 2 hours. Go on a self-guided exploration of the Dolphin Sanctuary using one of the handy A4 maps we provide of the area! The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is the best location for paddling in Adelaide. You can explore the beautiful mangrove creeks and search for dolphins with your family or friends.
We have the craft ready for you at the launch site, help you set up and supply a map and advice on best spots and safe paddling. You create your own unique adventure!

Stand Up Paddle Board Hire
Hire one of our Stand Up Paddle Boards for up to 2 hours to create your own adventure!
Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP) pick up is located at the Garden Island Boat Ramp and Reserve, Lot 204 Garden Island Road, Gillman (click to see location) in the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary…the best location for paddling in Adelaide.
You can explore the beautiful mangrove creeks and search for dolphins with your family or friends.
We have the craft ready for you at the launch site, help you set up and supply a map and advice on best spots and safe paddling. You create your own unique adventure!
INCLUSIONS
Hire fee includes a 1 stand up paddle board, paddle, life vest and map for up to 2 hours from the start of your session time.
Our service includes some time for assisting in setting up and providing safety and local area information. If you are a novice paddler this could be 20 minutes.
When hiring a SUP, you will not be able to go to the ships graveyard due to safety. If you wish to visit the Ships Graveyard, please book into our ‘Dolphin Sanctuary and Ships Graveyard KayakTour’.
