Step aboard the iconic pink amphibious vessels and embark on an unforgettable adventure with 1770 LARC Tours, exploring the stunning National Parks and pristine waterways surrounding the historic Town of 1770 in Queensland’s Southern Great Barrier Reef.

The ex-military Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo (LARC) crafts are uniquely designed to go where ordinary vessels can’t – gliding across tidal creeks, cruising over sandbars, landing on remote beaches, and even scaling Bustard Headland. The vessels take guests right to the top of Bustard Head Lightstation, home to Queensland’s only operating lighthouse open for public entry.

At the historic Lightstation, guided tours will immerse visitors in captivating stories of shipwrecks, survival, and the resilience of early light-keepers. Explore fascinating maritime artefacts, photographs, and memorabilia, then soak in the breathtaking views across this untouched coastal wilderness.

Along the way, keep eyes peeled for native wildlife, feel the rush of sandboarding down the giant dunes, and capture spectacular panoramas that will stay with guests long after the tour ends.

During the day, enjoy a delicious, fresh morning tea and lunch, with cool refreshments and billy tea brewed over a campfire, all served in a shaded picnic area – the perfect chance to relax and take in beautiful surroundings.

Whether seeking history, nature, or adventure – this is a LARC experience for every age to enjoy.

LARC + Lunch

LARC + Lunch

The relaxed 2 hour LARC + Lunch tour ventures across two water ways, edging along Eurimbula National Park, and greeted by a gorgeous golden stretch of foreshore. Here the only footprints in the sand are your own. Lunch will be served under the shade of an old casuarina tree in THE most “beach front” setting you can get!

After lunch you can sit back in your beach chair appreciating the surrounding scenery, stroll along the shoreline for treasures, or take a dip in the refreshing waters of Bustard Bay.

The LARC journey includes an informative and entertaining commentary on the local history, culture, flora and fauna.

LARC Paradise Tour

LARC Paradise Tour

For a trip you will never forget, jump aboard the pink LARC – an amphibious craft that will take you for a ride across deserted sandy beaches and pristine estuaries, with Eurimbula National Park to the west and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park to the right!

The LARC! Paradise Tour ventures to the isolated Bustard Head Lighthouse, Queensland’s only operating Lighthouse open to the public!

You’ll hear the tales of tragedy and triumph as early white settlers and Lighthouse Keepers struggled to tame this remote wilderness. You will have a guided tour in the light-keeper’s cottage, now a museum of artefacts and lightstation memorabilia. You will see some of the prolific wildlife that inhabits the area and you will gasp in awe at the spectacular panoramic view from the balcony of the historic Bustard Head Lighthouse.

On the way home, you can experience the thrill of sandboarding down the towering dunes of Middle Island – a popular part of the tour for the adventurous and a great spectator sport for some!

The full day tour LARC! Paradise Tour includes morning tea, lunch and Aussie billy tea and coffee brewed over an open fire.

The Afternoon Cruise is the perfect introduction to the area, a great taste tester of the LARCabilities and very easy to fit into any time schedule.
