Althea Holmes finds inspiration in the colours and shapes she observes in the environment wherever she is. When painting, she likes the immediacy of acrylics, sometimes including mixed media. Drawing has always been a passion for her, and she also enjoys pastels, drawing, and print media. Landscapes are predominantly her subject, but seascapes and portraiture are also favorites. Her progression into a more abstract viewpoint is enabling a different perception of subject matter, as well as a change in technique and tools.

Education
3 years at South Australian School of Art
Diploma of teaching secondary art

Masterclasses and Workshops
Continuing participation in numerous art-based workshops to further her art practice, including printmaking, drawing, pastels, multimedia and painting.

Victor Harbor Regional Gallery was established and is managed local artists. The gallery provides a space for the artists to display and sell their work and promotes the arts on the south coast.

The Gallery is run by a cooperative of local artists located in the old historic bakery building opposite the Victor Harbor Steam Train Railway Station. The old baking oven is on display at the back of the gallery where you may find that perfect unique piece.
