Wellington Caves

Discover the underground at Wellington Caves. Take a guided tour through Cathedral Cave and Thunder Cave, Gaden Cave and the exquisite Fossil and Phosphate Mine. Be amazed by 15m tall alter of crystal formations, intricate cave corals, 400-million-year-old marine fossils and 1-million-year-old megafauna fossils.

Become a paleontologist for the day and examine ancient fossils in the Discovery Lab. Inspect Australian megafauna through a lens and get a magnified insight just like a palaeontologist. The Discovery Lab has all of the tools for fossil finding, so dig in and see what you discover!

The Caves Visitor Experience Centre features a coffee shop and the Ancient Landscapes Gallery. Here you can interact with ancient marine creatures, stand next to life-sized Diprotodon and uncover the local Wiradjuri stories of the caves.

The Cathedral Cave and Gaden Cave do not have wheelchair access. All tours are approximately one hour in duration. Fully enclosed shoes must be worn on cave tours.

Complete your adventure – book a stay at the Wellington Caves Holiday Park.
