Birrang Gulaay ‘crossing from where you have been to where you are headed’
This immersive cultural journey, facilitated by Birrunga Wiradyuri, guides clients from where they have been to where they are headed through ceremony and personal exploration. The 4.5-hour experience includes:
Greeting and Acknowledgement of Country: Guests are welcomed by Birrunga.
Ochre Ceremony: Cleansing of the space with ochre, to anchor the intention of the experience.
Importance of Place Workshop:
Discuss Aboriginal concepts of place and personal lore.
Share Wiradyuri lore and painting techniques.
Engage in didgeridoo meditation and paint personal canvases.
Finished canvases are dried and sent with a note from Birrunga.
Degustation Menu:
A five-course degustation menu infused with native ingredients.
Birrunga joins to discuss the workshop and share cultural stories.
Private Guided Cultural Tour:
Learn about the Creative Cultural Development Program and view artworks.

Founder, Birrunga Wiradyuri, a Wiradyuri man, leads as the principal artist, infusing the gallery with authenticity and vision. It is more than just an art space; it’s a vibrant venue offering an immersive experience of authentic First Nations culture, including art, music, dance, artefacts, food, tours, and classes.
They’re dedicated to providing an enriching experience for those eager to immerse themselves in Indigenous art and culture.
The catering team delights in serving modern Australian cuisine with a distinctive twist, integrating native spices and ingredients in every dish. This unique blend of traditional and contemporary flavors offers our customers a culinary experience that perfectly complements our artistic surroundings.
At Birrunga Gallery, they operate with deep respect for the local Indigenous community, acknowledging and working with the permission of Uncle Eddie Ruska on the traditional lands of the Jagera, Yugerra, and Turrbal People. Their connection to these communities is fostered through ceremonies and cultural exchanges, underlining a commitment to honour and preserve Indigenous cultures.
