Itinerary highlights
Trinity Inlet
Trinity Inlet serves as the port for Cairns city and is home to the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal, Reef Fleet Terminal and Marlin Marina. More than that though, Trinity Inlet is an extensive marine landscape where the rainforest hills and rivers, slide into the sea with thick mangrove forests lining the border between the two. It provides habitat for a diverse array of fauna and flora, including saltwater crocodiles and over 40 species of fish.
Trinity Inlet is on the Cairns waterfront and extends nearly 9km inland. The city is on one side and today the other side is largely mangroves, but it’s land that is being rehabilitated following failed attempts to grow sugar cane there in the 1970s.
