Long Reef Surf School
Learn to surf in the waves at Long Reef. All equipment including a surfboard suited to your abilities is provided. For beginners they use soft, stable surfboards which are easy to balance, paddle, stand and surf on.
Long Reef is a hidden gem on the Northern Beaches, located between Dee Why and Collaroy Beaches. The long white stretch of sand and nearby lagoon is a great spot to learn how to surf.
When you arrive, look for the Long Reef/Manly Surf School van near the kiosk. Bring a swimsuit and towel, wear lots of sunscreen and don’t forget your camera.

Surfing lessons
Meet your Manly Surf Instructor near the Manly Surf School vans in the carpark at the Kiosk. You will be given a wetsuit and board for use during the lesson. A short walk over the sand dunes and whilst still on the beach, you will be given an introduction to pop-ups and paddling before hitting the waves.

Manly Surf School
Located on the iconic Manly Beach, Manly Surf School has been operating for over twenty five years and is Sydney’s largest surf school. Open seven days per week, throughout the year and offering daily group lessons, private lessons and holiday programs with multiple local breaks (beaches) on offer. Experience the lifestyle on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and the thrill of surfing with the locals, at one of four locations including Long Reef, Collaroy, Manly and Palm Beach.
Whether you are an absolute beginner, intermediate or pro, Manly Surf has a program that will suit every age and ability. Matt and his team of highly qualified team of instructors will take you through the basics of paddling and pop ups before heading into the water.
Low tide is best time of the day for children and weak swimmers and Manly Surf School Staff are happy to assist over the phone to discuss conditions and the best time of the day to book for families with younger children (ages 5 and up).
All equipment of softboards and wetsuits are provided for the duration of the lesson and included in the cost. Pricing packages are also available online and in person, for those wanting to surf more than once and can be used at any location.
