Instagram alert: Cambewarra Estate Winery is probably the most photogenic vineyard on the NSW South Coast… and not just for its beautiful location in Bangalee, at the foothills of Cambewarra Mountain, about 15 minutes from Nowra and two hours from Sydney.
Both the food at the restaurant and the high tea are particularly photogenic: especially if you opt to have the latter in a giant pastel-pink teacup set in the middle of the chardonnay vines. (There’s also an intriguing range of teas for sale – including tisanes like Winter’s Kiss, a blend of spearmint and peppermint.)
The wines are an equally memorable drawcard. Cambewarra makes a rosé, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, verdelho, white and red port and a vintage chambourcin, all from estate-grown grapes.
Enjoy them over a long lunch at the estate restaurant where chef Joshua Greenhill creates seasonally focused food that might include a torched mackerel with kipfler potatoes or a vegan salt-baked kumara.
Alternatively, try a wine flight with a paired cheese board overlooking the estate from the large, covered wine deck.
The kid- and pet-friendly cellar door, restaurant and High Tea is open from 10am every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and on selected public holidays. Private bookings and events are available seven days a week.
