The Firs, in Stewarts Brook State Forest, is a stunning picnic area located within a former pine plantation near the western end of Barrington Tops Forest Road.
Very little light penetrates the dense pine canopy, creating an other-worldly feel to this beautiful area. Enjoy a break at a picnic table surrounded by towering pines, or take a short walk through The Firs to enjoy the south-westerly views at the edge of the forest.
If you’re lucky (and quiet) you might see a lyrebird – they frequent the area and love to scratch through the pine needle floor.
