The Jawoyn people invite you to experience the history, beauty and culture of one of Australia’s most spectacular destinations – Cicada Lodge – a unique luxury lodge overlooking the Katherine River within the Nitmiluk National Park just 330km south of Darwin International Airport.

Open all year round, the Lodge has been designed to provide a base from which guests can take part in an experience that very few get the chance to do, Cicada Lodge gives the opportunity to explore the cultural and natural landscapes of Nitmiluk and Kakadu National Parks, lands of the Jawoyn people. With experienced guides, immerse yourself in these ancient and authentic terrains and cultures. This may include ancient rock art sites, learning ancient Indigenous crafts and skills, or swimming in private and pristine waterholes accessible only by helicopter.

Cicada King Rooms are air conditioned and feature full length louvered doors to the private balconies, allowing guest the choice of opening their room to the sounds and sights of the native bush or closing them for the cool privacy of their room sanctuary. Each room has views out across the distinct sandstone country above the gorge.

Each room features Indigenous artwork from local artists – the rich colours blending with and complimenting the more modern design and fittings. The ancient stories within the paintings weave the modern with the traditional to create a unique blend that is Cicada Lodge.

Experience comfort and inclusivity in the Accessible King Room, designed for guests with disabilities. Featuring a wheelchair ramp and accessible bathroom with a disability-friendly toilet, this room ensures ease, safety, and relaxation throughout your stay at Nitmiluk Gorge.

Bathrooms dimensions must be no less than 2000mm X 2500mm. Have a hobless (step free) shower recess. Shower recess must have at least 1100 x 1100mm clear area for wheelchair access (no door). Have a slip resistant fold down seat or fixed seat in shower .Seat must be at least 900mm long.).
  • A lever handle on bathroom door.

  • Grabrails in shower recess (can be removable and height adjustable).
