Diamond Bay is an ocean beach surrounded by impressive sandstone cliffs. The site is a popular location for surf fishing as it has extensive rock platforms and is slightly more protected than other areas of the coast. This stunning area of sand is lying at the base of 30 m high calcarenite bluffs, and are fronted by a reef and rock dominated surf zone.
Diamond Bay Road leads to a small car park behind the beach which is accessed from a walking track and steep staircase.
There are wonderful cliff top walks along the rugged coast from Cape Schanck to Portsea. Walks from Diamond Bay heading east to the St Pauls lookout and circuit walk which was a strategic observation site for the early settlers and gives stunning views over the Bay of Islands. Heading west to Jubilee Point for views back to Sorrento. The headland of Jubilee Point also separates Diamond Bay from the smaller St Pauls Beach.
The area around Diamond Bay contains significant Aboriginal midden sites. Please stay to formed tracks to avoid disturbing these fragile, protected sites.
