Wilpena Pound Resort sits within the stunning Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park, surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in South Australia – 430 kilometres north of Adelaide.
This extraordinary landscape is 800 million years old and has been home to the Adnyamathanha people for tens of thousands of years. Located at the entrance to Wilpena Pound itself, the resort is the perfect base for exploring this diverse and fascinating region.
Guests enjoy a haven of outback hospitality with 60 hotel rooms, 15 glamping Safari Tents, and a picturesque campground set among towering red river gums. All hotel rooms are air conditioned and come with in-room fridge and television (some with kitchenettes), Safari Tents are air conditioned and feature a modern ensuite bathroom. The campground has powered and unpowered campsites, as well as permanent tents and bus bays.
The resort offers a range of cultural tours guided by the local Adnyamathanha people themselves to experience this country from their eyes. Scenic flights and a multitude of self-guided and guided walks are also available from the resort.
Resort facilities include the Ikara Lounge Bar and Bistro, Visitor Information Centre, an IGA Xpress general store, bottle shop, petrol, diesel and guest swimming pool.

Edeowie Room
Edeowie is a hotel style room with one queen bed and two single or bunk beds. The room also has lounge area, television, kitchenette, mini in-room fridge, complimentary tea & coffee, iron and ironing board, balcony and air conditioning. The room is suitable for up to six guests.
Brachina Room
The Brachina room is a comfortable studio style room with one queen bed. The room also has lounge area, television, air conditioning, as well as tea and coffee making facilities, an iron and ironing board and an ensuite bathroom. The room is suitable for up to two guests.
Ikara Glamping Safari Tent
Ikara Safari Camp offers visitors to Wilpena Pound a new ‘glamping’ experience in the heart of Adnyamathanha country. Complete with king bed, ensuite, power, a mini refrigerator and air conditioning. Secluded from the main resort and campground, each tent is ideally positioned to take advantage of the spectacular views of the sun setting over Wilpena Pound. 13 safari tents sleep 2 people, and two family safari tents sleep up to four.
Aroona Room
The Aroona room is a comfortable studio style room with one queen bed and one single or bunk bed. The room also has lounge area, television, air conditioning, mini in-room fridge, and an iron and ironing board. The room is suitable for up to four guests.
Heysen Room
The Heysen room is a comfortable superior style room with one queen bed and two single beds. The room also has lounge area, television, balcony, air conditioning, in room mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and an iron and ironing board. The room is suitable for up to four guests.
Powered Campsites
The Wilpena Campground has 40 powered campsites of all sizes. Facilities include campfire pits and barbeques, three shower and toilet blocks, and two laundry areas. Petrol, gas, ice, firewood and groceries and liquor are available at the IGA Xpress general store, and a regular shuttle bus operates to the entrance to Wilpena Pound near Hill’s Homestead.
Unpowered Campsite
Over 300 unpowered bush campsites spread out over 50 hectares under towering river red gums. The campground has three amenities blocks, two with laundry facilities, a pay phone, and is close to the general store selling groceries, petrol and firewood.
The adjacent Visitor Information Centre books local tours and scenic flights over Wilpena Pound and the Ikara Flinders Ranges.
Campground guests are welcome to use the resort pool, as well as the restaurant, bar and bistro.
