Emerald Creek Ice Creamery, located just 15 km south of Mareeba and approximately 50 km from Cairns, is a must-visit destination for anyone in Tropical North Queensland. This family-owned gem specialises in premium handcrafted ice cream and sorbet, made with local ingredients whenever possible.

The Ice Creamery offers a delightful variety of flavours that highlight the region’s fresh produce, from tropical fruit sorbets to rich, creamy ice creams, making it a treat for all tastes. There are over 50 flavours with 32 ice creams and 6 sorbets on display for scooping each day.

But they aren’t just ice cream, there is also a light foods menu serving up sweet and savoury treats from a ploughmans board and toasties to scones, apple crumble pie and waffles – all homemade using locally sourced products. Homemade condiments, fudge and biltong can also be found in store.

What makes the Ice Creamery truly special is its support for local businesses. They source ingredients like sugar, mangoes, pineapple and dragon fruit (to name a few) from nearby producers. Their gift shop showcases an assortment of locally made items, including soaps and jewellery as well as locally grown/produced products like coffee, tea, vanilla extract, tea tree oil and honey. This commitment helps promote the local community and provides visitors with the chance to take home a piece of the region.
