Beginner and Intermediate Packrafting on the Mitchell River.

Come and enjoy the wilderness of the Mitchell River National Park. Their experienced and highly qualified guides love this trip, and are excited to give you an experience that you won’t forget. This trip is suited to the adventurous and those with some paddling experience.

You will start the day with a short walk down the hill to Den of Nargun and the Mitchell River. You will need to carry all your gear for the day in a hiking pack. Once you arrive at the river, you will pack and inflate your packrafts and get on the river. The first hour will be spent learning and reviewing your strokes and techniques. This is a must, as the first rapid can be a bit of a wake-up-call. you go straight in to the whitewater at that point, and there is no turning back. A 10 kilometre paddle, with lots of rapids, adreneline and fun along the way.

Canoes Plus will supply a gourmet lunch at the Old Weir, and then onwards to the finish through some of the best rapids in that section. Your final point will be the Glenaladale bridge.

Thomson River Packraft Journey

Thomson River Packraft Journey

Try a packrafting Day on the Thomson River.

Scheduled to coincide with a water release from Carran Carran, this should be an exciting intro to other adventures. With a paddle from the Walhalla Railway Bridge down to Coopers Creek Campground, this should be a great day on the water.

This day trip is design to be a consolidation of skills learned in the basic courses, but will touch on packing for day trips and overnight trips, as well as the gear you need to carry and other essentials.

There are some great rapids of Grade 2 to 2+ standard, which will test your skills, and enable us to learn and consolidate our white water handling skills.

You will be guided with qualified guides and offered instruction and river reading instruction along the way. The team will go through setting up your pack raft in the most suitable way, learn to stow gear and balance the kayak, learn to outfit the pack raft- all this before you even get on the water. And then review basic paddling techniques and moving water and white water skills.

A great course to get you started on your new journey.
