Karawatha Cottages – rated ‘Best of the Best’ accommodation in the McLaren Vale wine region in the TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Awards for 5 years in a row – is your perfect base to explore the region, taste the wines and local produce and relax from the comfort of your private, fully self-contained stylish cottage.
The Cottages are located a short 5km drive from the McLaren Vale township, yet it feels you are a world away: situated on a hill side and surrounded by vineyards, each cottage features a private deck to make the best of the views onto vineyards and the backdrop of the Mount Lofty Ranges.
A guest favourite is the Karawatha Cottages Wine Walking Trail – an easy 5.5 km walk leading past five cellar doors and two restaurants (Vale Restaurant & Bar and the award-winning Currant Shed); or just take a short 500m stroll to their immediate neighbours and call into the cellar doors of Geddes, Beresford and Woodstock for some wine and beer tasting.
All cottages have an open-plan layout with kitchen, living and dining area, but separate bedrooms and feature flat-screen TVs, A/C as well as a wood/gas log heater. The communal patio offers free BBQ facilities as well as an open fire place.

The Relish at Karawatha Cottages
The Relish Cottage is their two-bedroom cottage, which comfortably accommodates four guests and is perfect for a group of friends or family.
The cottage features a fully equipped open-plan kitchen (with dishwasher), large dining and living area with wood combustion heater (as well as reverse cycle AC), flat-screen TV, and Bluetooth speaker for your enjoyment. The bathroom, with a large walk-in rainwater shower, and the two bedrooms offer views into the park-like forest.
The living area and the private deck (with ample seating for four) boast views onto vineyards and the Mount Lofty Ranges. Sit back, relax, listen to birds – and enjoy a glass of McLaren Vale wines whilst the sunset ‘paints’ the hills in the distance in ever-changing colours.
The Unwind at Karawatha Cottages
The Unwind Cottage is one of their one-bedroom cottages, perfect for a couple to enjoy the beauty of their location within the McLaren Vale and all the amazing food and wine that is on offer.
The cottage features a fully equipped open-plan kitchen, separate bedroom, large dining and living area with wood combustion heater (as well as reverse cycle AC), flat-screen TV and Bluetooth speaker for your enjoyment.
The bathroom features a bathtub/rainwater shower combination.
Given the elevated position of the cottage, it offers breathtaking views from both, the living area and the private deck (with outdoor furniture) onto vineyards and the Mount Lofty Ranges.

The Ponder at Karawatha Cottages
The Ponder Cottage is one of their two one-bedroom cottages, featuring a fully equipped open-plan kitchen, separate bedroom, extra large dinning and living area with gas log heater (as well as reverse cycle AC), flat-screen TV and Bluetooth speaker for your enjoyment. The bathroom offers a large walk-in rain water shower.
The Ponder cottage is their most private cottage, offering breathtaking views from both the living area with its oversized floor-to-ceiling windows and the private deck (with outdoor furniture) onto vineyards and the Mount Lofty Ranges.
Sit back, relax, listen to birds – and enjoy a glass of McLaren Vale wines whilst the sunset ‘paints’ the hills in the distance in ever-changing colours.
