The sand-pumping jetty and the Seaway wall offer protection from the strong currents and shore dumps that affect the open beaches, allowing perfect sandbanks to form which allow the lesson to be conducted in waist-deep water, safe even for those who are not strong swimmers.

Continually raising the bar for safety, Get Wet was the first surf school on the Gold Coast to insist all instructors hold all qualifications needed, which has since become a national requirement and the first to maintain strict participant-to-instructor ratios well below the national standard (5:1 for adults and 4:1 for children).
