In 1920 a series of locks and weirs were installed along the River Murray. These structures were built to divert water to the emerging agriculture industry and also to improve navigation of boats along the river. There are six locks in the Riverland. Lock 3 at Overland Corner has a big, beautiful grasses area to overlook boats as they pass through the lock, or simply enjoy a picnic.
