Madigan Line (Northern Simpson Desert) Tag along Tour
Highlights
- Follow the historic Madigan Line across the world's largest sand dune system, immersing in remote Australian landscapes.
- Experience the thrill of 4WDing through 900 sand dunes, connecting with nature in one of Australia's most isolated regions.
- Savour an 'End of Tour' dinner at the iconic Birdsville Hotel, celebrating your adventure with fellow travellers.
- Explore the northern Flinders Ranges, discovering stunning vistas and unique wildlife on your journey back to Quorn.
A unique opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Cecil Madigan as you follow his 1939 camel trek across the Northern Simpson Desert. The Simpson Desert is the largest parallel sand dune system in the world with over 900 sand dunes to cross. You’ll 4WD across a track that links his camps together in one of the remotest places in Australia.
Our 14-day Tag along Tour starts in Coober Pedy and makes its way to ‘Camp 25’ in Birdsville, celebrating with an ‘End of Tour’ dinner at the iconic Birdsville Hotel! You’ll be amongst the very few who have done this track and you’ll take your time, spending 8 days on the Madigan Line itself. You’ll train as you go and when it’s done properly using the correct (low) tyre pressures, gear selection and track maintenance where necessary, we’ve proven over the years that taking Heavy Duty Off Road trailers is not an issue.
From Birdsville we head down the iconic Birdsville Track to Marree and on through the northern Flinders Ranges and back to Quorn in the central Flinders Ranges – a place we are proud to call home!
