Discover the charm and character of one of Perth’s most iconic suburbs with the Mount Lawley Heritage Walk. Located just 4km north of Perth’s CBD, Mount Lawley is renowned for its leafy streets, vibrant café culture, and rich architectural history. This self-guided walk spans approximately 1km along Beaufort Street, beginning or ending at the historic Astor Theatre, a beloved entertainment venue dating back to 1914.

The walk features 10 newly installed bronze plaques and several established markers that tell the stories of Mount Lawley’s evolution since the 1830s. From Federation and Queen Anne homes to Art Deco landmarks and Colonial-era buildings, each site reveals the suburb’s transformation through the lives of notable residents, community institutions, and architectural milestones.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast or a casual explorer, the walk offers a unique glimpse into Perth’s heritage. Highlights include the former tram terminus, Rosetta Lodge, Perth College Chapel, and the Commonwealth Bank building. The route is flat and easy to navigate, making it ideal for all ages.

Created in partnership with the Mount Lawley Society and the City of Stirling, the walk celebrates local identity and preservation. After your stroll, enjoy a coffee or meal at one of the many cafés lining Beaufort Street.
