Now in its 14th year, the North Coast Mud Trail invites you to step inside the studios of 31 ceramic artists working across 22 unique studio locations throughout the Northern Rivers region. This self-guided trail offers a rare opportunity to explore behind the scenes of working pottery studios, connect with artists, and experience the diversity of ceramic practice across Bundjalung Country.

This year we have expanded to include two full days of workshops that you can book for.

Visitors can expect to see a wide variety of ceramic works from wood-fired vessels and contemporary porcelain to functional wares and abstract sculptures. The Mud Trail is designed to be explored at your own pace over two days, allowing time to linger, learn, and discover.

Throughout the weekend, many studios will offer live demonstrations, artist talks, and hands-on workshops. It’s an opportunity to meet the makers, hear about their inspirations and processes, and witness the magic of clay in action. On Friday and Monday, a range of ceramic workshops will be offered that you can book for.

To plan your visit, pick up a copy of the 2026 Mud Map from participating studios or Mullumbimby IGA (available from mid July), or explore the interactive map online.
