Big Mama Sailing is owned and operated by a small family (Stu, Lisa, Fletcher and boat dog Coco). They offer a personalised and memorable sailing experience for small exclusive groups on a Half Day, Full Day Tour, Sunset Sailing and Private Charters.
They operate from both Townsville and Magnetic Island on board their three sailing vessels, Big Mama (60ft) and Ragamuffin 111(48ft) & Samurai(60ft). Bring your own alcohol is welcome is welcome all vessels.
Big Mama is a beautiful and well maintained Adams Ketch. Both Stu, Lisa and boat dog Coco live on board, so they are welcoming you into their home. Big Mama has plenty of deck space to relax in a bean bag, a comfortable inside saloon area or join in the fun and action of sailing and other water activities. Big Mama offers catering on her tours. Ragamuffin 111 (Fletcher’s home) & Samurai, have a colourful history of racing, well known for her involvement in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, other offshore racing but now focus on supporting local Queensland yacht racing. Both, vessels have been restored and offers a unique experience for small groups, water activities included and bring your own beverages and nibbles is welcome.

Private Big Mama Full Day Adventure Island Sail
Circumnavigate Magnetic Island.
An opportunity to get your feet sandy, have a swim/ snorkel, explore bays only accessible by boat, sail, relax and enjoy the beautiful and diverse scenery of Magnetic Island.
Morning tea and Light Lunch are supplied.
Snorkel gear, UV/wetsuits and Environmental Tax is included.
The snorkelling around Magnetic Island is on a fringing reef and is visibility and weather dependent.
They offer sailing, which is lots of fun and other water activities like snorkelling & paddle boarding.
The Humpback Whales migrate to the area around late July until early September, so sailing with the whales is a huge possibility and an extra bonus!
Departure Time- 9am from Magnetic Island or Townsville. Return Time- 4.00pm.
Maximum guests- 14.
Sunset Sail on board Big Mama
A unique sailing experience on board Big Mama.
Sit back and relax in a bean bag with a glass of sparkling wine or non alcoholic beverage in your hand or enjoy the action of sailing. The skipper is always happy to ensure you have a ‘hands on’ sailing experience if you are keen.
Two hours on the water. Relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery and the ‘peace and quiet’ of Big Mama under sail.
They provide complimentary sparkling wine (glass or two) or a non-alcoholic beverage on arrival and antipasto platters while watching the Sunset.
The Humpback Whales migrate to the area around late July until early September, so sailing with the Humpback Whales is a huge possibility and an extra bonus!
Depart at 4.30pm and Return- 6.30pm.

Half Day Adventure Island Sail on board Big Mama
Enjoy a Half day sailing on the water, with a small group of 12 guests maximum.
Sail, explore, relax and snorkel, paddle board on board Big Mama and enjoy morning tea provided- Tropical fruit platter, sweet platter, tea & coffee.
A wonderful opportunity to celebrate a special occasion with a group of friends and family (birthday, engagement, anniversary, hens, bucks or any excuse to be on the water) on a private charter, maximum guests 14.
Departure time- 9am from Horseshoe Bay or Picnic Bay, Magnetic Island or Townsville.
Return time- 1.30pm.

Half Day Sail on board Ragamuffin 111
Sail, explore, snorkel, paddle board for half a day on board Ragamuffin 111. Bring your own beverages and snacks are welcome.
Depart Townsville or Magnetic Island 9am and return 1:30pm. Private Charters available- please email or text for more information.
Sunset Sail on board Ragamuffin 111
2 hours on the water. Sit back and relax or get amongst the sailing action. Bring your own beverages and nibbles is welcome in a small cooler bag or esky.
Samurai Half Day Sail
Explore the best of Magnetic Island on board a classical yacht, Sparkman and Stephens 60ft.
Water activities include Sail, Snorkel, Paddle boarding.
Spacious deck with bean bags and cushions as well as two heads(bathrooms).
Bring your own nibbles and beverages in a small cooler bag or esky.
Small personalised groups of 15 max, and on Private Charters up to 20.
Samurai Sunset Sail
Sail away into the sunset for 2 hours on board our classical yacht, Samurai, a 60 ft Sparkman and Stephens.
