Dean Biŋkin Tyson’s work reflects body painting as cultural adornment, privilege and resistance.

Drawing on decades as dancer, song man and bidiyamundu (didgeridoo) player, his practice honours ancestral markings and shares some stories of yulu burri ba, stories belonging to the sand and sea.

Painted Up is part of a three-year project of artist-residency style exhibitions and activations, collectively titled Create Exchange. The exhibition is presented at Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland and Redland Art Gallery, The Mezz at Redland Performing Arts Centre.

Create Exchange: Painted Up – Dean Bingkin Tyson,’ at Redland Art Gallery is a proud partner of Redlands Coast AdventureFest and part of the Redlands Coast Gallery and Museum Hop.
