Itinerary highlights

Mooloolaba Spit

Ride to the mouth of the Mooloolah River where cruising yachts and working trawlers enter the river between the rock groyne walls. From the end of the spit, the beautiful Mooloolaba beaches unfurl north to views of the Sunshine Coast all the way to Noosa Heads.

HMAS Brisbane Memorial

The mast from the HMAS Brisbane serves as the site of a memorial to the ship and its crews. The HMAS Brisbane saw duty in Vietnam, the Gulf, and other arenas. The ship itself is now an artificial reef and popular dive site off the coast at Mooloolaba. This high point on the coastline offers a commanding view.

The Jetties, Cotton Tree

From the historic piers on the Maroochy River at Cotton Tree, you have a magnificent view of the estuary with its cream-coloured sandbars and azure waters. The site of these jetties was the main thoroughfare for the development of the Maroochy and Sunshine Coast regions. The adjacent Cotton Tree Holiday Park is the oldest holiday park in Queensland.
