In M/other Land, Roberta Joy Rich returns to her mother land of South Africa, weaving in and out of place, raising her fist and returning her gaze, standing defiantly in front of heritage sites of political and personal significance.

From former residential homes her family were forced to leave during the Apartheid regime, to government buildings and street signs that reveal residues of oppressive structures, M/other Land seeks to redirect the gaze to one of Afro origins that explores concepts of identity, migration and self-determination.
