The Royal National Park, is the second oldest national park in the world and this diverse park offers everything from beaches to rainforest.
Audley is popular with day-trippers with extensive picnic areas, boat hire facilities, a bike track and a visitor’s centre. It is also the gateway to the Royal National Park.

Sydney Tramway Museum
The Museum’s operational fleet not only includes an extensive collection of Sydney trams from 1896 to 1997, but also trams from Brisbane, Melbourne, Ballarat, Adelaide, San Francisco, Nagasaki, Berlin, Munich and Milan, enabling comparisons between the different tramcar designs.
The museum operates 2 lines, the first line runs 1.5 kilometres north towards Sutherland. The second runs 2.5 kilometres to the south and utilises the Royal National Park branch railway line and terminates at Royal National Park railway station.
ANSTO Discovery Centre
ANSTO is one of Australia’s largest public research organisations and is widely recognised as an international player in the field of nuclear science and technology.
Tours for the public are available from time to time to give visitors an in depth look into the world of nuclear science and the work ANSTO does in the areas of health, the environment and delivering solutions for industry. Subject to availability, the tour will visit Australia’s only nuclear multipurpose reactor OPAL, the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering, the ANSTO Nuclear Medicine facility and the Centre for Accelerator Science.
Audley entry to the Royal National Park
The main road into the National Park from the north drops quickly from the heights to Audley, where it crosses the Hacking River on a weir before climbing up the other side of the valley to continue further into the park.
Audley developed into a small village of amusements, surrounded by ‘pleasure gardens’. It was popular with holidaymakers and honeymooners.
Audley features extensive picnic areas, boat hire facilities from a heritage listed timber boathouse, a bike track and a visitor’s centre. Audley is also the location of the administrative headquarters for the Royal National Park.
Audley Dance Hall Cafe is a timber dance hall which was built here in the 1940s, on the eastern bank and still stands today.
Wattamolla Picnic Area (Waterfall & Beach)
Wattamolla Beach, is a cove, lagoon, and beach within the Royal National Park.
The picnic area provides loads of options to keep everyone happy. The kids will love the calm waters of the lagoon for snorkelling, swimming and liloing, or head to the beach for a spot of fishing. Go for a walk, see the waterfall then head to the cove and beach.
Woronora Dam
The Woronora Dam is a heritage-listed concrete gravity dam with an uncontrolled serpentine spillway across the Woronora River.
The dam can be viewed by the public, and has a walking trail across the dam wall, and a picnic area including a carpark.
