Scion is a progressive Rutherglen winery offering a modern spin on the region’s traditional grape varietals. Expect Durif redesigned and Muscat reimagined. Expect the unexpected.

The cellar door is nestled in the natural landscape just two kilometres south of the township. Visit for a hosted tasting experience or pre-order a picnic hamper to enjoy among the gum trees.

Established in 2002 from bare earth, Scion was inspired by Winemaker Rowly’s great-great-great grandfather George Francis Morris, a pioneering Australian vigneron.

As one of Rutherglen’s most contemporary winemakers, Rowly aims to make interesting, sometimes unexpected, but always delicious wines.

Sustainability underpins every decision made at Scion, with a focus on biological management of the soil ecosystems in their vineyards and the use of solar power and rainwater to run the winery and cellar door. Scion is Sustainable Winegrowing Australia Certified.

Scion is cycle-friendly, with bike racks and pump available. Their team will happily deliver any purchases of 6+ bottles to Rutherglen accommodation.

A Tesla charging station is available to cellar door visitors.
