Explore one of the most rewarding rides in the Northern Rivers on a self-guided e-bike journey to Unicorn Falls.
Starting from our Mooball location, opposite the southern end of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail, this scenic route combines sections of the Rail Trail with quiet hinterland roads, beautiful rainforest and the option for a dip at he enchanting Unicorn Falls.
Ride at your own pace using our suggested route and simple navigation app, with plenty of time to stop, take photos and enjoy the surroundings. The journey takes you through farmland, forest and into Mount Jerusalem National Park, where Unicorn Falls offers a peaceful and refreshing destination.
The route includes a mix of car-free trail riding and quiet rural roads, with some hills along the way. Our premium Bosch-powered German e-bikes make the climbs smooth and manageable, making the experience accessible for a wide range of riders.
All hires start from Mooball, with easy access from Byron, Lennox and Ballina with free parking on site.
This is a self-guided experience. We provide bike hire, route suggestions and support so you can explore independently.
Riders access and use the Rail Trail and surrounding roads as members of the public.
Itinerary highlights
The Northern Rivers Rail Trail
The Northern Rivers Rail Trail is a purpose-built cycling trail that follows the route of the former railway line through the Tweed hinterland. The trail passes through a mix of farmland, forest and small towns, with features including restored railway bridges, original rail infrastructure and several tunnels, including the 524m Burringbar Range Tunnel. The surface is a combination of compacted gravel and sealed sections, providing a smooth, car-free riding experience suitable for a wide range of riders.
Stokers Siding
Half way along the Rail Trail the route turns left at the hamlet of Stokers Siding and heads towards Uki. Don’t miss the quaint heritage railway station shop and local art galleries.
Uki & Rowlands Creek
After leaving the Rail Trail the route takes in the quirky hinterland village of Uki. Great cafes, great pies and great coffee, the perfect place for a rest before heading off through the picturesque rolling hills of creeks of Rowlands creek and the climb up into Mount Jerusalem National Park.
Unicorn Falls & Mount Jerusalem National Park
Part of the ancient Gondwana rainforest, Mount Jerusalem National Park is home to majestic rainforest and the hidden gem of Unicorn Falls, tucked away in the forest. The ideal place for a refreshing dip or just marvel at the ancient forest.

The Pocket
On your way to Billinudgel, you will ride through the wonderful open hinterland of The Pocket. Stop and meet the Alpacas at Nudgel nuts.
The Billinudgel Hotel
Finish up at historic Billinudgel hotel for a well earned drink. There is optional transport back to Mooball for your convenience or for the super keen there is a 17 km route back to to Mooball through the beautiful Wooyong reserve.

Starting from their Mooball location, one of the easiest and most convenient access points for visitors travelling from Byron Bay, Lennox, Ballina and the Gold Coast, with free parking available on site.
In addition to general e-bike hire, they offer two popular self-guided ride options to Unicorn Falls in Mount Jerusalem National Park and the award-winning Husk Farm Distillery at Tumbulgum. These routes combine sections of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail with quiet country roads and rainforest landscapes, with optional return transport available.
