Simmo’s Outback Four Wheel Drive Safari is an extended Four Wheel Drive Tag-a-ong Tour showcasing the very best of country NSW, from Katoomba, to the Warrumbungles, Lightning Ridge and beyond!

Graded as an easy to medium grade Tag-a-Long Tour, it is suited for both Four Wheel Drive and AWD vehicles.

Highlights of this extended 4WD Tour include Katoomba and the majestic Blue Mountains, the goldfields of Hill End and Sofala, boutique wines of Mudgee, Aboriginal rock art of the Warrumbungles, Outback sculptures of the Pilliga, Black Opal Mining at Lightning Ridge, birdlife of the Macquarie Marshes and an African Safari at Western Plains Zoo Dubbo.

Itinerary highlights

Blue Mountains

On day one of the extended 4WD Safari we explore Katoomba and the beautiful Blue Mountains National Park, making our way through the Capertee Valley, crossing the Turon River to reach the historic township of Hill End.

Hill End

We explore rugged 4WD trails in the Hill End region, visit the goldfields museum and learn how to find alluvial gold using both gold pans and metal detector.

Wines of Mudgee

Mudgee is renowned wine producing region, and our itinerary includes a personalised winery tour showcasing superb wines and local produce of this stunning region.

Opal Mining, Lightning Ridge

We spend 3 fantastic nights in the heart of Lightning Ridge where we visit a working opal mine and learn how to identify the elusive Black Opal. We explore Outback trails by 4WD, visiting a working sheep station, with lunch in the quirky Grawin Opal fields.
