From the comfort of Simmo’s modern Toyota Landcruiser explore challenging bush tracks, adventurous water-crossings, spot native animals – and travel back in time to the days of the Australian gold rush.

Itinerary highlights

Hill End

From Bathurst, explore fun 4WD trails by the Turon river to the historic township of Hill End. Visit the National Parks and Wildlife Information Centre, and take in the views from Bald Hill Lookout. Visit the historic General Store and incredible History Hill museum, or pan for alluvial gold in the fossicking area.

Ophir

From Orange, you travel in Simmo’s Toyota Lancruiser 4WD to the historic Ophir goldfiends. Explore rugged 4WD trails in the Ophir Reserve to an abandoned gold mine, pan for alluvial gold or fish for trout in Summer Hill Creek. Visit the old cemetery, take a short bushwalk to the Ophir waterfalls, or take in the views from Doctors Hill lookout.

Sofala

From Bathurst, travel in Simmo’s Toyota Landcruiser, exploring fun 4WD trails along the Turon River to historic Sofala. Stroll around the pretty little village and visit the General Store. Guests will enjoy a visit to the goldfields museum on the outskirts of Sofala or maybe pan for alluvial gold or fish for trout in the Turon river.

Jenolan Caves

From Katoomba or Oberon, travel in Simmo’s Toyota Landcruiser, exploring fun 4WD trails through the Kanangra Boyd National Park to Jenolan Caves village. Take a short stroll to Blue Lake and view platypus when they come up for air! Guests can enjoy a guided tour through Chifley cave before heading back into the National Park and spotting native animals.

Abercrombie Caves

From Bathurst you travel by 4WD, exploring rugged 4WD trails to Abercrombie Caves and Abercrombie River National Park. Guests can enjoy a guided walk through the spectacular limestone formations of Arch Cave, or relax in the beautiful picnic area where kangarooos and other native wildlife are regularly spotted. Return to Bathurst via the impressive Grove Creek waterfalls, and some fun 4WD tracks in the National Park.

Blue Mountains

Get away from the crowds and experience the Blue Mountains National Park by 4WD. Take in the sights from Govett’s Leap Lookout and explore fun 4WD tracks along the Cox’s River and Kanimbla Valley. Guests will be intrigued by the ageless Aboriginal rock art and the stunning sandstone formations of the Gardens of Stone National Park.
