Capricorn Caves is an Advanced Eco-Tourism attraction located in Rockhampton with daily departures of small-group nature-based experiences.

The Cathedral Cave Tour is a 45-minute experience designed to gain an insight into the natural history of the caves, spot endangered species, and take a moment to pause in the breathtaking Cathedral Cave. Great for those with limited time.

Led by local guides, the Capricorn Explorer (max 10 pax) and the Capricorn Adventurer (max 8 pax) are both experiences that allow guests to visit sections of the system that take you off the main walkways and into the most incredibly beautiful and spectacular caves.

Tours operate daily from 9 am to 2 pm, Tour times vary daily, please check the booking screen for availability.

After your tour, enjoy a bite to eat from the kiosk or cool off with a swim in the pool. The visitor center provides fascinating information about the local geology, bats, and community history.

Cathedral Cave Tour

Showcasing the largest and most spectacular caves, this local 45-minute guided small-scale personal tour filled with captivating stories leaves you with lasting memories of ancient geological landscape and history, early explorers, the wonders of wildlife and special cave acoustics, guaranteeing a sense of adventure. Walkways and ramps make this the most accessible tour. It is recommended to wear enclosed shoes. Easy walking, fully guided, group tours available, translations.

Tour Times: Daily on the hour from 9am – 2pm. Extra tour times available in the QLD school holidays (see website for details).

Capricorn Explorer

Follow your expert guide off the beaten track and explore some of our best kept hidden secrets. Visit spectacular locations like the highly decorated Deep Vault Cave and The Flowerpot where you learn about some of the incredible geological forces that formed the caves and a chance to see some rare wildlife. With helmets and headlights to guide you, there is a chance you may get a little bit dirty. Moderate fitness. Enclosed shoes are essential.

Duration: 90 minutes
Minimum amount of guests : 3 pax (2 adults), maximum 10 pax
Age: 5 years old – Adult

Capricorn Adventurer

Prepare for the Adventure of a lifetime and step beyond your comfort zone on our most immersive cave tour. Explore the most remote sections of the caves where your headlamp is the only source of light. Expert adventure guides assist you through some of our most incredible and challenging caves such as Jack’s Beanstalk and Fat Man’s Misery. Emerge from the darkness for the most spectacular 360-degree views looking over Mt Etna National Park and Baga National Park. Enclosed shoes are essential. High level of fitness required.

Duration: 120 minutes
Minimum amount of guests : 2 pax (2 adults), maximum 8 pax

Capricorn Family Adventure

Take your children on an exciting journey into the unknown as you explore the caves by the light of your headlamp. Your expert guide will lead you through some of our fun yet challenging caves such as The Dungeon and Whale’s Belly. Be prepared to crawl, squeeze and climb on this memorable family adventure!

Tour Times: 10am daily. Only during Qld school holidays.

Duration: 120 minutes
