The Sunshine Castle is a Norman style Castle, complete with a moat, turrets and drawbridge and also home to Absolut Toys, an independent toy store offering quality toys at affordable prices.
Whilst parts of the Castle are authentically in ruins, the magic of its offerings are still alive. Unique in Queensland and Australia it allows visitors an access to European history that offers education and sparks imagination to all who visit.
After 50 years of service to this community, in January 2020 the Castle was forced to close part of it’s original buildings and now restricts access to offer a mini tour, with history shields, armour displays in it’s atmospheric courtyard and the iconic dolls and fairytales.
Children are sent on a Treasure Hunt and can choose a treat from the Kings treasure.
The self-guided educational history shields tour offers detailed information on the Medieval elements of the Castle and history.
The Castle Doll Museum was ‘all dolled up’ and renovated in 2020 showing off a diverse selection of dolls in a chic new home fully designed by a local Sunshine Coast artist.
The small cafe offers light refreshments.
