The Arnold Gallery is in anticipation for the opening of their new Novelty Signage exhibition entitled “Tag’s Old School Handwritten Novelty Signs” created by signwriter/artist Tony Tagliaferro.
Tony’s display is a humorous selection of art signage to decorate your walls on many fun topics. All of Tony’s signage is made from recycled timbers. So very good for the environment as well.
Tony recalls when vinyl lettering and digital printing came in, the sign industry took a big hit and sign writers lost about 60% of their work! Reeling from the drop in sales Tony closed his shop in Port Adelaide and moved to Ardrossan where he opened a cafe. The cafe was covered in signs wall to wall. Some visitors drank 4 – 5 coffees just to read them all!
Unfortunately, COVID shut their café down but Tony’s passion for creating signs never left him and so here we are still writing and selling signs!
