As night falls and shadows creep across the bluestone walls, step inside the walls of Pentridge Prison for an after-dark experience like no other. The Night Watch Tour takes you on a journey through the eerie past of Melbourne’s most infamous prison, guided by a Warder on their nightly rounds.
Over 90 spine-tingling minutes, you’ll wander through dimly lit cell blocks and open yards, hearing stories of punishments and escapes and the unexplained moments that still linger in the prison’s history. From the notorious H Division to the chilling rock-breaking yards, every step feels like walking in the footsteps of the past.
By the glow of the Warder’s torch, you’ll uncover tales of prisoners and warders alike, some grim, some surprising and all utterly fascinating. This is your chance to see a side of Pentridge few have dared to explore.

Led by expert guides and with cutting-edge technology, the National Trust offers a range of tours for all ages, each uncovering a different aspect of life inside the Prison. Family tours run weekly and daily during Victorian School Holidays.
The Indigenous history of the site is at the forefront the Pentridge Prison Tour experience, with National Trust’s expert guides introducing what it means to have had a prison on Wurundjeri Country both for the community and the individuals incarcerated at Pentridge Prison.
