Thirlmere village will once again awaken to the enchanting sound of the steam whistle for the annual Thirlmere Festival of Steam.

Don’t miss this unique and exciting weekend event for the whole family; proudly brought to you by Wollondilly Shire Council and Transport Heritage NSW, operators of the NSW Rail Museum.

Enjoy a weekend of family fun including steam train rides and museum activities, live entertainment, demonstrations, delicious food, a family carnival, market stalls, a street parade, a steam machinery display, a car display and Australia’s largest rolling stock collection at the NSW Rail Museum. There are different activities on each day. Check the program for details!

The Festival will also include the ‘Huff n’ Puff’ road race on Sunday 24 May, where running enthusiasts can put themselves to the test and race against a steam train.

Book your steam train tickets online and experience a leisurely trip on one of the Museum’s steam trains, including the recently restored locomotive 3001 and more.
