Tolmer Falls is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Litchfield National Park, cascading over two high escarpments into a deep plunge pool. Located near the park’s western boundary, the falls are accessible by sealed road and sit about 85 km south of Darwin (as the crow flies).

A short 400 m walk leads to two viewing platforms perched at the top of the gorge, offering sweeping views of the dramatic falls. You can return via the 1.6 km Tolmer Falls loop walk, an easy 45-minute circuit that is rocky in parts. The track winds through classic Top End sandstone country, past Tolmer Creek, a tributary, and pristine rock pools.

Swimming is not permitted at Tolmer Falls.

The falls were named by explorer Frederick Henry Litchfield in honour of Alexander Tolmer, a colleague of his late father in the South Australia Police.

Purchase an NT Parks Visitor Pass before you arrive. NT residents are exempt.
