Sydney’s spectacular sandstone coastline is also a humpback whale highway. If you plan to visit Sydney Harbour between May and October, it’s a veritable playground for whales of all kinds, including humpbacks, orcas, southern right whales, and minke.
Combine the sights of Sydney Harbour with an open-water cruise through the entrance of Sydney Harbour to find the gentle giants of the sea. The cruises are safe, comfortable, and spacious, and best of all, whale numbers increase every year.
From June, Humpback Whales migrate north for breeding before returning south with their calves in September. Occasionally, a southern right whale mother and calf make Sydney Harbour their home for a short while, and thousands of locals come out to wish them well.
