Unveiled in March 2023, the Wool Bay Water Tank Mural is a vibrant homage to the region’s ecology, community spirit, and cultural heritage. Designed and led by artist Sam Brooks, the mural was completed over 23 days with the help of collaborators Harley Hall, Mark Harding, and emerging artists Rachelle Plazeriano and Garry Nowlan through a mentorship program.
Standing 3.5 meters tall, the tank comes alive through a blend of spray gun techniques and fine hand-painting. The design showcases Wool Bay’s natural beauty, featuring local flora and fauna—a vivid green parrot, flowering natives, and a watchful gecko. It also honors the Narungga First Nations people with symbolic elements, including the ethereal “Women in the Clouds”, a graceful tribute to female strength, wisdom, and ancestral presence.
The mural weaves together past and present, human and land, in a powerful, dreamlike visual narrative. This project was proudly supported by the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, in collaboration with Yorke Peninsula Council, SA Water, and the Port Vincent Progress Association. A stunning blend of art, nature, and cultural reverence!
